Associate Director, AI and Data Scientist (Generative AI)

Location: Princeton, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $169,222–$253,000 per year, plus incentive opportunity.

What you will do

• Develop AI product visions, roadmaps, use cases, and proof-of-concept initiatives aligned with pharmaceutical R&D objectives.
• Design, train, fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy AI, machine learning, generative AI, and LLM applications.
• Architect and implement agentic AI systems using planning, reasoning, orchestration, execution, and reflection loops.
• Guide AI platform, architecture, MLOps, LLMOps, data engineering, and reusable component development.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with data scientists, engineers, IT, legal, privacy, ethics, business stakeholders, and external partners.
• Support adoption and change management while communicating AI outcomes, limitations, risks, and business value.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in data science, computer engineering, computer science, physics, statistics, information systems, or a related discipline; a PhD is preferred.
• Deep expertise in data science, data engineering, AI, machine learning, generative AI, representation learning, and AI/ML solution architecture.
• Proven experience delivering production-grade AI, generative AI, and LLM applications, including prompt engineering, embeddings, fine-tuning, and model evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of MLOps, LLMOps, SDLC, CRISP, testing, validation, GxP, responsible AI, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with real-world life sciences data, including claims, clinical trial, regulatory, quality, safety, and R&D operations data.
• Work location: Princeton, New Jersey, United States.

Nice to have

• PhD in a relevant discipline.
• Strong pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industry experience, particularly in drug development and clinical trials.
• Experience with Dataiku Data Science Studio, Snowflake, AWS SageMaker, or comparable data science platforms.
