TL;DR
Technical Sales Engineer/Application Engineer, Verdant (HVAC/IoT): Deploying, optimizing, and supporting smart thermostat and energy management solutions across European hospitality, student housing, and multi-dwelling unit environments with an accent on HVAC controls, cloud connectivity, system commissioning, and customer-facing technical delivery. Focus on troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and integration challenges, supporting BMS/PMS integrations, monitoring energy-saving performance, and training installation partners.

Location: Hybrid, based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania; extensive travel across Europe is required.

What you will do

  • Lead on-site installations and support Tier 1 deployments for smart thermostat and energy management solutions.
  • Troubleshoot installation, connectivity, networking, hardware, software, and system integration issues.
  • Coordinate with installers, project managers, property engineering teams, IT departments, and customers.
  • Prepare wiring diagrams, installation guidelines, technical requirements, materials, and deployment documentation.
  • Support cloud connectivity, system commissioning, and integrations with Building Management Systems and Property Management Systems.
  • Monitor system performance, support energy-saving targets, and train and certify installation partners.

Requirements

  • Experience in application engineering, field engineering, technical sales engineering, technical support, or technical deployment.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, building controls, IoT devices, or smart building technologies.
  • Experience with customer-facing technical projects, installations, commissioning, or connected technologies.
  • Familiarity with BMS, PMS, cloud-connected technologies, networking, and system integration troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, problem-solving, and independent prioritization skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication and willingness to travel extensively across Europe are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience in hospitality, student accommodation, residential, or MDU environments.
  • Knowledge of energy management, sustainability, HVAC optimization, or smart building automation.
  • Experience with installer training, technical enablement, or certification programs.
  • Additional European language skills.
  • Experience with cloud-based SaaS platforms, remote monitoring, or connected building technologies.
