TL;DR
Safety Compliance and Oversight Specialist [DOE0039038] (Environmental Management/Safety Compliance): Conducting safety assessments, compliance oversight, incident investigations, and performance reporting for DOE EM Hanford's high-stakes nuclear cleanup environment with an accent on worker protection, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance. Focus on developing safety dashboards, analyzing inspection results, coaching personnel, and maintaining mission assurance across Hanford operations.
Location: Richland, Washington, United States. Work is conducted predominantly on-site at the Hanford Field Office and Hanford Site, with some remote support permitted when approved by the Contracting Officer. Field-based work requires PPE.

What you will do
- Conduct safety assessments and inspections in a regulated nuclear cleanup environment.
- Oversee compliance and perform compliance analysis for Environment, Safety and Health and Quality Assurance activities.
- Track safety metrics and develop safety performance dashboards.
- Support incident investigations and prepare compliance and performance reports.
- Provide program and project management support for Hanford Field Office activities.
- Apply observation, coaching, vigilance, and professional judgment while collaborating with project stakeholders.
Requirements
- 5–8+ years of safety or security oversight experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety or Industrial Hygiene.
- Experience with safety inspections, compliance analysis, and reporting.
- DOE or Environmental Management Sector experience is preferred.
- Ability to work in a field-based role with required PPE and predominantly on-site attendance.
- Facility Clearance is required; a DOE clearance may be required depending on the assigned work.
Nice to have
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification.
- Previous DOE experience.
