Mass Tort and Complex Casualty - Senior Claims Adjuster

Location: Chicago, Illinois; primarily in the office

Salary: $72,500–$96,700 annually for positions based in Illinois, plus eligibility for a bonus under the applicable incentive plan.

What you will do

• Evaluate coverage under sophisticated insurance products, including GL and environmental policies.
• Handle complex litigation and coverage issues involving bodily injury, property damage, construction defect, environmental, and toxic tort claims.
• Hire and manage legal counsel supporting coverage evaluation and defense of insureds.
• Assess damages and the financial impact of claims with support from external experts.
• Develop and execute claim resolution strategies, including negotiations with insureds and third parties.
• Advise claims, business, and underwriting leaders on exposures, product enhancements, and emerging risks such as PFAS and opioids.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in legal, insurance, construction defect, or environmental work preferred.
• Experience handling complex claims with diverse coverage issues related to general liability and environmental policies.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and investigation skills.
