Staff Embedded Software Engineer (C)

Location: Kallithea, Athens, Greece; onsite, with no remote work available

What you will do

• Own the architecture of embedded platform components, including interfaces, layering, portability, and build-versus-adopt decisions.
• Lead embedded software projects end to end by managing scope, risks, dependencies, schedules, and quality targets.
• Design, develop, and maintain low-level drivers, middleware, and RTOS integrations for hirify.global devices.
• Set coding, review, testing, verification, and release standards while owning delivered software quality.
• Plan and estimate work, manage priorities across parallel efforts, and report status and risks to engineering leadership.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with hardware, silicon, applications, product teams, internal stakeholders, and customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, plus 10+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Expert C programming skills and experience architecting embedded platforms shipped in volume across multiple product generations.
• Deep knowledge of 8-, 16-, and 32-bit MCU architectures, including ARM Cortex-M, memory maps, interrupts, DMA, clocking, and low-power design.
• Experience with CMake, embedded cross-compilation toolchains, Docker, CI/CD, embedded test automation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Strong knowledge of the full software engineering lifecycle, verification against specifications, and debugging with laboratory equipment and JTAG/SWD tools.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, decision-making, stakeholder alignment, delivery ownership, and communication with non-specialist and customer audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with Zephyr, FreeRTOS, embedded Linux, hirify.global FSP, or comparable HAL and driver frameworks.
• Background in hard real-time or safety-critical software, security architecture, connectivity protocols, or open-source maintenance.
• Experience with AI-assisted development, coding agents, agentic workflows, or MCP.
