TL;DR
Lead Engineer, Database Engineering (SQL Server/PostgreSQL): Building and maintaining optimized, highly available database platforms and automated deployment pipelines for TU UK with an accent on database reliability, security, and operational scalability. Focus on designing CI/CD automation, supporting high-availability and disaster-recovery systems, troubleshooting production data issues, and leading database engineering practices.
Location: Chennai, India. Hybrid work with in-person responsibilities at an assigned office at least two days per week. UK business-hours support and participation in an out-of-hours DBA on-call rota are required.

What you will do
- Build and maintain optimized, highly available database platforms.
- Build and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines for automated database deployment and configuration.
- Establish standards for fault-tolerant systems and automate manual operational processes.
- Troubleshoot database and data issues, advise on data growth and maintenance, and support database migrations and upgrades.
- Consult with Product Delivery teams on Route to Live pipelines, solution operability, and secure data management.
- Provide technical supervision and leadership for other engineers, including UK business-hours and on-call support.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA, working with MS SQL Server 2014 or later.
- Enterprise experience supporting PostgreSQL, database migrations and upgrades, and high-availability and disaster-recovery technologies including Mirroring and Always On Availability Groups.
- Advanced T-SQL experience, including stored procedures, SQL Agent Jobs, and deployment automation; experience with transactional replication and centralized distribution.
- Experience handling sensitive data securely and ensuring compliance with SOX, PCI, and related controls.
- Solid understanding of DevOps, Agile, Scrum, and Kanban, plus source control workflows for database projects.
- Technical experience with TFS/Azure DevOps Server, Octopus Deploy, PowerShell automation, and advanced troubleshooting.
