Sr. Scientist - Electrochemist (Electrochemistry)

Location: US - California - San Diego; onsite at hirify.global headquarters

Salary: $98,400–$147,600 base salary per year, plus eligible bonus, commission, and equity programs.

What you will do

• Design, execute, and interpret experiments using electrochemical methods for biodetectors.
• Develop new sequencing technologies and related life-science applications within the Material and Applied Surface Science group.
• Collaborate with synthetic chemists, protein chemists, bioinformatics scientists, engineers, and international partners.
• Devise creative solutions to electrochemical problems and contribute to collaborative research.
• Analyze large, complex data sets and use evidence and risk assessment to influence technical direction.
• Maintain detailed lab notebooks and prepare technical reports, presentations, updates, and summaries.

Requirements

• Expertise in electrochemistry and electrochemical techniques related to biodetectors.
• Experience developing methods to assess electrode-system stability using electrochemical, analytical, and surface-analysis tools.
• Experience with electrochemistry in constrained volumes and a broad range of analytical and surface-characterization techniques.
• Typically, at least 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 3 years with a master’s degree, or a PhD without experience; equivalent experience may be considered.
• PhD in Electrochemistry, Chemistry, or Materials Science is required for the listed minimal-experience pathway.
• This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with micro- or nanofabrication of electrodes.
• Understanding of microfluidics, fluorescence-based assays, and DNA biochemistry fundamentals.
