Tech Lead Engineer (PHP / Symfony & AWS)

Location: 100% remote within Poland

What you will do

• Own technical delivery of sprint commitments, including estimation, dependency management, and blocker escalation.
• Work with the Product Owner to shape requirements, challenge scope, and translate the roadmap into a technical plan.
• Mentor engineers, lead code reviews, and distribute technical knowledge across the team.
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and REST APIs with PHP and Symfony.
• Drive AWS modernisation using containerised workloads and suitable serverless services such as Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
• Diagnose production issues, manage bug triage, optimise RDS MySQL workloads, and lead AI spec-driven development.

Requirements

• Experience leading a team or workstream, making technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and driving delivery.
• Hands-on production experience with PHP, Symfony, MySQL, and Doctrine.
• Experience building and running production applications on AWS, including debugging with CloudWatch logs, metrics, and alarms.
• Strong REST API design skills with focus on security and performance; GraphQL experience is beneficial.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL production workloads, including EXPLAIN plans, indexing, and query optimisation.
• Experience with automated PHP testing using phpspec and Behat, plus interest in AI-assisted development.

Nice to have

• Experience with RabbitMQ, Redis, SQS, SNS, or EventBridge.
• Experience with Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, or Aurora Serverless.
• Infrastructure as Code experience with AWS CDK or CloudFormation.
• Experience integrating Auth0 or similar identity platforms.
• Understanding of GDPR and secure handling of sensitive data.
