TL;DR
Systems Architect - Device and Edge Software (IoT): Defining and guiding architectures for embedded, device, edge, and mobile-connected software supporting intelligent industrial products with an accent on scalability, reliability, security, and interoperability. Focus on building AI/ML feedback loops and pipelines, secure device identity and update mechanisms, online/offline operation, and integration across hardware, cloud, service, and enterprise systems.
Location: USA-WI-Corporate Headquarters; full-time on-site role

What you will do
- Define reference architectures, design patterns, and technical standards for device, embedded, edge, and mobile-connected software.
- Guide architecture for firmware, edge applications, embedded compute, sensors, data handling, communications, and software lifecycle management.
- Drive AI and ML adoption through data feedback loops, AI/ML pipelines, model lifecycle management, and technology evaluation.
- Define integration patterns across devices, edge software, hybrid mobile applications, cloud platforms, enterprise systems, and third-party technologies.
- Establish secure-by-design principles for device identity, access control, software updates, safety, quality, and industrial cybersecurity.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship across product management, software, hardware, manufacturing, service, IT, and mobile application teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of experience in embedded systems, firmware, device software, edge computing, or IoT-connected mobile application ecosystems, including architecture or technical leadership.
- Strong understanding of embedded, edge, and IoT-connected mobile application architectures.
- Experience designing online/offline systems with secure local connectivity and cloud synchronization.
- Expertise with machine learning, natural language platforms, and real-time inference frameworks.
- Strong communication, systemic thinking, and cross-functional influence skills.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in a related technical field.
- Experience with industrial, connected, or safety-critical products.
- Experience with industrial automation, connected products, or IoT ecosystems.
