Senior Tool Maker

G&W Electric develops engineered electrical power grid solutions and manufactures products for the power industry.

What you will do

• Design tools, jigs, fixtures, and molds using CAD software.
• Manufacture precision tooling using conventional and CNC machines and a range of machining techniques.
• Inspect finished tools and document production and quality results.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and adjust existing tools while implementing preventive maintenance.
• Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and production personnel on tooling requirements.
• Identify process improvements, support safe working practices, and train others in machinist tasks as needed.

Requirements

• 10 or more years of toolmaking experience focused on precision tool design and manufacturing.
• Formal technical education or certification in toolmaking or a related field, such as TMA.
• Experience with CAD software and CNC machining.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of machining techniques and materials, with strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.

Nice to have

• Precision machining experience with mills, lathes, EDM, grinding, and related equipment.
• Experience with mold fit and finish, progressive assemblies, and stack-up heights.
• Intermediate polishing and surface-finishing experience.
