Risk Engineer Power Generation

Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan; primarily office-based with field surveys and up to 90 days of international travel per year

What you will do

• Provide engineering-based risk assessment and risk selection support to underwriters for power generation accounts.
• Manage client survey programs, including service planning, coordination, report reviews, and stewardship meetings.
• Conduct operational and construction field surveys at power generation facilities.
• Audit departments and sites to evaluate risk mitigation measures and recommend improvements.
• Assess property damage and business interruption exposures and prepare detailed survey reports.
• Present survey findings and loss prevention recommendations to site management and clients.

Requirements

• 10+ years of industrial experience in a power plant or with a boiler, gas turbine, or electrical transformer manufacturer.
• Experience in HSE or equipment maintenance.
• Degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, methodologies, and loss prevention.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills required.
• Ability to perform prolonged walking and standing, ladder climbing, elevated work, and site inspections while wearing required PPE.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of nuclear and renewable power generation facilities.
• Experience with power generation plant design or construction projects.
• Experience at a major insurance carrier or broker.
• Additional language skills.
