Microbiology Lab Coordinator

Location: Permanent, site-based role in Ringaskiddy, Cork, Ireland

What you will do

• Lead the setup, implementation, and daily operation of a GMP-compliant microbiology laboratory.
• Develop and maintain the laboratory Quality Management System, including SOPs, test methods, policies, and controlled documentation.
• Oversee bioburden, sterility, endotoxin, microbial identification, environmental monitoring, and water testing.
• Manage equipment installation, IQ/OQ/PQ qualification, lifecycle maintenance, and electronic data systems.
• Maintain audit readiness, support inspections, and lead deviations, investigations, non-conformances, and CAPA activities.
• Recruit, train, and manage laboratory personnel while coordinating with Operations, Quality Assurance, Training, and Business Development.

Requirements

• Degree in Microbiology or a related scientific discipline at NFQ Level 8 or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of experience in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or life sciences laboratory.
• Experience in laboratory leadership or management.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, microbiological testing, and laboratory quality systems.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Compliance with EHS, biosafety, site safety, EU GMP, HPRA, FDA, and hirify.global requirements is required.
