What you will do
- Establish and provide ongoing legal support for Cayman UT, Cayman UT/LPS, Japan LPS, real estate-related, publicly offered, and privately placed investment fund structures.
- Support private equity, direct lending, private fund, and other asset investment products.
- Negotiate discretionary investment management agreements and advise on model portfolio services.
- Handle FSA special business operator notifications and corporate law and FIEA compliance for shareholder meetings, board meetings, and related corporate actions.
- Advise on labor and employment law, general corporate matters, and regulatory developments.
- Support the Korean subsidiary on sub-advisory arrangements, model portfolio services, distribution agreements, and Korean investment trust structures; report to the General Counsel, East Asia.
Requirements
- Japanese bar qualification (bengoshi) and approximately 5–8 years of legal experience at a major domestic or international law firm; in-house experience is also welcome.
- Business-level English proficiency is required.
- Legal experience in finance, particularly asset management, is required.
- Applicants must already have the right to work in Japan without current or future visa sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with US asset management regulatory issues.
- Experience in M&A, acquisition finance, or real estate securitization.
