Mass Tort and Complex Casualty - Complex Claims Director

Location: Chicago, Illinois; primarily office-based

Salary: $104,600–$127,600 base salary annually for positions based in Illinois, plus eligibility for a bonus under the applicable incentive plan.

What you will do

• Evaluate coverage under sophisticated insurance products, including GL and Environmental policies.
• Hire and manage counsel supporting coverage evaluations and defense of insureds.
• Assess damages and financial impacts with support from external experts.
• Develop and execute claim resolution strategies, including negotiations with insureds and third parties.
• Advise business partners on exposures, product changes, and product enhancements.
• Advise claims and business leaders on emerging risks such as PFAS and opioids.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in legal, insurance, construction defect, or environmental work.
• Ability to handle complex claims involving diverse coverage issues related to General Liability and Environmental policies.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and investigation skills.
• Ability to work primarily from the office in Chicago, Illinois.
