Patent Agent

What you will do

• Develop and execute patent prosecution strategies aligned with business goals and potential enforcement scenarios.
• Drive IP strategy and collaborate with inventors, engineers, legal teams, and business stakeholders.
• Identify invention disclosures through ideation and patent harvesting activities.
• Lead or support patent searches and analyses for freedom-to-operate, patentability, partnerships, and competitive intelligence.
• Partner with outside counsel on U.S. and international patent applications involving mechanical, automation, controls, and related technologies.
• Support IP enforcement, licensing, contracts, ownership matters, and company-wide patent awareness initiatives.

Requirements

• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a science discipline.
• At least 6 years of patent experience in a corporate legal department or IP law firm preferred.
• Expert knowledge of U.S. and international patent filing, prosecution, and maintenance requirements.
• Strong experience in patent searching, drafting, and prosecution, with technical versatility across multiple technologies.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
