TL;DR
Footwear Developer I (Footwear Product Development): Supporting the creation and commercialization of seasonal inline and SMU performance footwear with an accent on uppers, materials, samples, technical packages, and fit validation. Focus on coordinating cross-functional development, managing testing and feedback loops, and ensuring product quality, costing, and production readiness with global factory partners.

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States. Workplace: On-site with 4 days per week in the Seattle offices. International travel to factory locations, including Asia development trips 2–4 times per year, is required as needed.

Salary: $80,175–$120,315 per year, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

  • Support the creation and execution of seasonal inline and SMU footwear, including new uppers and color/material updates.
  • Manage the full sample process by tracking, receiving, distributing, reviewing, and communicating samples across teams.
  • Collaborate with product line management, design, Asia development, engineering, factories, and suppliers on fit, feel, ride, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Maintain technical packages, including BOMs, blueprints, and upper patterns, for factory partners.
  • Coordinate testing, validation, feedback loops, timelines, costing targets, and production readiness for multiple projects.
  • Identify process improvements in data accuracy, sample management, and cross-functional coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomechanics, design, kinesiology, or another technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in footwear, apparel, or consumer goods, with 1+ years in athletic footwear development preferred.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, including coordination across disciplines and time zones.
  • High organization, follow-through, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office, Illustrator, and PLM systems.
  • Willingness to work in the Seattle offices 4 days per week and travel internationally to factory locations as needed.

Nice to have

  • FlexPLM experience.
  • Experience with athletic footwear development.
  • Knowledge of vendor capabilities, lead times, material behavior, and manufacturing processes.
