CAD Level 3 Designer (Jewelry)

Location: Tribeca, New York, NY, United States; onsite, full time

What you will do

• Create intermediate jewelry pieces from start to finish with limited supervision.
• Develop complex projects and forms from less-detailed design direction.
• Create stone settings and prepare CAD files for hinges, clasps, connections, and linkages with guidance from the CAD Engineering team.
• Translate design concepts into physical pieces within established timelines and provide input on completion estimates.
• Suggest improvements to CAD workflows and review vendor CAD files for visual viability.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of CAD experience specific to jewelry.
• Knowledge of complex jewelry construction and precious and non-precious metal properties.
• Proficiency in Rhino CAD and in creating solid, workable polysurface files.
• Experience modifying and repairing mesh objects, plus working knowledge of hinges and clasps.
• Ability to read design renderings and engineering documents, communicate effectively, and work in a team environment.
• A four-year BA or BS in Design with an emphasis on 3D Jewelry Design is preferred, or equivalent jewelry industry experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with rapid prototyping machines.
• Experience with 3D Coat or comparable sculpting software.
