Principal Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Onsite at the Crossman Integrity Building, Sunnyvale, California, United States

Salary: $169,000–$338,000 annually, plus performance-based bonuses and potential stock compensation.

What you will do

• Architect and guide scalable, production-grade machine learning systems for customer-facing and operational products.
• Translate complex business challenges into technical strategies, platform requirements, and measurable success metrics.
• Lead the full ML lifecycle, including data sourcing, feature engineering, model training, deployment, and monitoring.
• Advance MLOps practices such as CI/CD pipelines, model versioning, drift detection, and performance telemetry.
• Drive applied ML innovation across deep learning, NLP, reinforcement learning, and multimodal modeling.
• Mentor engineers, influence architecture, and collaborate across teams to ensure scalable platform alignment.

Requirements

• Extensive experience architecting scalable, production-grade machine learning systems and platforms.
• Proficiency with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Python, SQL, and Java.
• Strong expertise in feature engineering, model training, deployment, monitoring, hyperparameter optimization, and model validation.
• Deep knowledge of neural networks, deep learning, natural language processing, reinforcement learning, and time series analysis.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 7 years of relevant experience without the degree requirement, plus 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Strong technical leadership, mentoring, critical thinking, and technical writing skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant computer science or engineering field.
• Experience with accessibility best practices, inclusive digital experiences, WCAG 2.2 AA, and assistive technologies.
