Principal BIOS / Firmware Architect (Server Hardware)

What you will do

• Architect server- and rack-level solutions for cloud computing and hyperscale customers.
• Develop long-term server technology strategies based on customer technical and business requirements.
• Drive system-level engineering integration across customers, suppliers, engineering, management, and business teams.
• Design and develop custom hyperscale server and rack concepts through production.
• Identify technology differentiation opportunities and lead feasibility studies, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts.
• Solve performance and operational problems while delivering business value through server hardware.

Requirements

• 10+ years of direct industry experience in server system architecture, power design, and software/firmware architecture.
• Experience with server motherboard design, chassis layout optimization, rack-level and data-center implementation, and system/rack power budgeting.
• Knowledge of x86, ARM, and GPU architectures; high-speed serial buses and fabrics including SAS, SATA, PCIe, InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, DDR4/DDR5, HBM, and CXL.
• Strong knowledge of BMC functionality, telemetry, AMI or OpenBMC firmware, UEFI/BIOS development, DMTF Redfish, security protocols, and Root of Trust.
• Experience driving cross-functional product development from concept and planning through development and production, including architecture specifications and business cases.
• BS in Electrical, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering; an MS is preferred but not required.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of Windows Server or Linux, including CentOS, Ubuntu, Fedora, or SUSE.
• Experience with VMware, Citrix, or Hyper-V virtualization solutions.
• Knowledge of software driver implementation, IP schemas, and network protocols.
