What you will do
- Deliver occupational health nursing care and promote employees’ physical, psychological, and social well-being.
- Conduct pre-employment, placement, transfer, exit, and periodic medical examinations in line with established protocols.
- Perform baseline and periodic health assessments to evaluate fitness for duty and identify early signs of occupational illness or target-organ damage.
- Support injury-on-duty and occupational disease reporting, incident investigations, referrals, and medical recommendations to line management.
- Maintain accurate medical records and prepare and distribute reports according to prescribed standards.
- Implement health promotion activities and collaborate with the occupational health centre team on safety and health compliance.
Requirements
- Grade 12 and a Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
- BTech in Occupational Health Nursing and registration with the South African Nursing Council.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar occupational health nursing role.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word, together with strong communication, time-management, and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of relevant mining and labour legislation and applicable safety, health, environmental, statutory, regulatory, and permitting requirements.
Nice to have
- Basic Life Support certificate.
- Certificates in audiometry, spirometry, and vision screening.
- Registration with the South African Society for Occupational Health Nursing.
- QMED knowledge and emerging counselling skills.
