TL;DR
Global Head of Site Acquisition (Data Centres and Infrastructure): Identifying and acquiring land for NEXTDC data centre expansion across Australia and international markets with an accent on site suitability, high-voltage power, utility connections, and complex property transactions. Focus on evaluating prospective sites, negotiating large-scale land acquisitions, aligning government and utility stakeholders, and guiding approved sites into development.
Location: Australia, based in either Sydney or Melbourne; hybrid work practices supported

designs, builds, and operates energy-efficient data centres across Australia and Malaysia, with additional international sites in development.
What you will do
- Identify and acquire land to expand the data centre portfolio and capacity across Australia and international markets.
- Define site requirements with Engineering and Development teams and evaluate prospective locations.
- Lead site selection recommendations through formal due diligence and approved acquisition.
- Assess grid power viability and coordinate with energy, water, utility, and government stakeholders.
- Develop and evolve the site selection framework in line with market changes and business needs.
- Negotiate with councils, utility operators, vendors, contractors, executives, and other stakeholders to secure land and infrastructure conditions.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in land acquisition, site selection, or strategic property transactions.
- Deep expertise in commercial land and property acquisition, conditional contracts, negotiation, and complex multi-party transactions.
- Experience managing site or portfolio transactions valued at approximately $50 million–$500 million.
- Knowledge of land, high-voltage power, water utility infrastructure, generation, recycled water, property law, planning, zoning, and approval pathways.
- Experience across Australia and key Asia Pacific jurisdictions, including utility connection and land acquisition processes.
- Knowledge of Uptime Institute, TIA-942, NABERS, BCA, and the relationship between data centre standards and town planning requirements.
