Senior Investment Associate (Renewable Energy)

Location: Nairobi, Kenya; travel up to approximately 25–40% within Africa and internationally

What you will do

• Originate, screen, and prioritize renewable energy and infrastructure investment opportunities across African markets.
• Lead commercial and financial structuring of transactions involving equity, mezzanine, debt, SPVs, PPPs, and concession models.
• Build complex project finance and corporate financial models, including valuation, scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and risk allocation.
• Lead or co-lead debt and equity fundraising with development finance institutions, banks, funds, donors, and strategic partners.
• Coordinate commercial, technical, financial, legal, and ESG due diligence, negotiations, investment materials, and Investment Committee approvals.
• Monitor portfolio performance, support refinancings and restructurings, and mentor junior team members in modelling and deal execution.

Requirements

• Based in Nairobi, Kenya, with willingness to travel up to approximately 25–40% within Africa and internationally.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in project development, investment, or project finance in the power or infrastructure sector.
• Demonstrated experience leading or co-leading transactions through successful financial close.
• Strong knowledge of project finance, PPP structures, concession models, PPAs, EPC and O&M contracts, and infrastructure financing instruments.
• Advanced financial modelling and quantitative analysis skills in Excel or a similar tool.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, strong stakeholder management capabilities, and a demonstrated connection to Africa.

• French or another regional language.
• Prior living or working experience in emerging markets.
• Experience in an infrastructure or energy-focused private equity fund, development finance institution, investment bank, or infrastructure advisory firm.
