Financial Modeller (Renewable Energy)

What you will do

• Build and maintain integrated project-finance models covering development, construction, operations, financing, taxation, and distributions.
• Model revenue and Power Purchase Agreement structures, including tariffs, contracted and variable volumes, foreign-exchange exposure, curtailment, and payment security.
• Size and sculpt debt using DSCR and LLCR metrics, while modelling repayment profiles, reserve accounts, fees, and covenants.
• Calculate project and equity returns, funding requirements, sensitivities, and downside cases for investment decisions.
• Support bids, negotiations, lender and investor diligence, transaction execution, and review of third-party models and term sheets.
• Prepare clear analysis for Investment Committee, Board, management, and cross-functional colleagues, while improving templates, controls, data flows, and documentation.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of relevant experience in project finance, infrastructure or energy investing, transaction advisory, investment banking, private equity, DFI, lending, or project development.
• Demonstrable ability to build, review, or materially improve an integrated financial model; a practical modelling assessment is part of the selection process.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong knowledge of accounting, cash-flow analysis, time value of money, and investment returns.
• Familiarity with project-finance debt sizing, debt sculpting, covenant analysis, tax and withholding-tax mechanics, foreign exchange, and inflation.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, actuarial science, engineering, mathematics, or another quantitatively rigorous discipline.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, professional integrity, and judgement.

Nice to have

• Exposure to solar PV, battery energy storage, mini-grids, commercial and industrial power projects, or Power Purchase Agreements.
• Experience with Power Query, VBA, Python, or another tool for improving modelling efficiency and quality.
• Experience in renewable energy, power, infrastructure, or other capital-intensive assets in African or emerging markets.
• French language capability.
• Progress toward CFA, ACA/ACCA, CPA, or another relevant professional qualification.
