Senior Native Android Engineer (Kotlin)

Location: Madrid, Spain; hybrid work with some days remote and some days onsite

What you will do

• Build production-native Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Develop reusable, published SDKs and Compose components for the shared hirify.global Android platform.
• Design maintainable, scalable solutions using MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, SOLID principles, and dependency injection.
• Implement data access through remote and local libraries, including Retrofit, Room, DataStore, and kotlinx.serialization.
• Improve Compose performance, animations, transitions, custom state, and accessibility for TalkBack and Switch Access users.
• Maintain quality through CI/CD, code review, static analysis, screenshot testing, unit testing, and code coverage practices.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of exclusive professional experience in native Android development.
• Experience developing libraries or SDKs as products, including publishing to Maven or Artifactory and managing public API compatibility.
• Advanced Kotlin and Jetpack Compose expertise, including Flow, Coroutines, Compose optimization, immutable collections, and custom components.
• Strong knowledge of accessibility APIs, Semantics, screen-reader navigation, TalkBack, and Switch Access.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, Agile development, PR workflows, JUnit 5, mocks and stubs, JaCoCo, Detekt, and SonarQube.
• Native Spanish and English at B2 minimum are required; English is used for code, documentation, commits, pull requests, and changelogs.

Nice to have

• Experience with security standards, Gradle plugins, Baseline Profiles, tracing, KSP, KotlinPoet, WorkManager, Google Maps, TDD, or instrumented tests.
• Experience with REST streaming over SSE and multiplatform-capable design systems based on Kotlin Multiplatform.
