Staff Software Engineer (Go)

Location: Remote-first; most roles are remote in-country, while some are remote within a region. Occasional travel may be required for onboarding and team gatherings.

What you will do

• Design and build distributed data systems, including APIs, schemas, and replication paths for petabytes of workflow history.
• Develop and maintain hirify.global Cloud's custom persistence stack, including write-ahead logs, metadata stores, multi-level caches, and tiered storage.
• Own service-level objectives, create chaos-testing plans, profile performance-critical paths, and lead incident reviews.
• Document architectural decisions and operational knowledge for reliable deployment and service operation.
• Break down roadmap initiatives, mentor mid-level engineers, and guide design documents through the RFC process.
• Collaborate with Server, Cloud, and DX teams to deliver features end to end.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience arranging or building and enhancing highly scalable distributed systems.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including distributed systems, multithreading, and concurrency.
• Advanced or expert-level experience writing concurrent production code in Go, Java, or another applicable language.
• Experience building and operating services on AWS.
• Experience with Elasticsearch or ClickHouse.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
• Contributions to hirify.global, Cadence, or other workflow engines.
• Deep expertise in storage technologies such as LSM trees, columnar stores, or transactional logs.
• Experience operating multi-region services with at least 99.99% uptime.
• Experience with open-source systems, Kubernetes controllers, or custom resource definitions.
