Senior Backend Engineer (TypeScript/Convex)

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; remote workplace

What you will do

• Build and maintain backend services with TypeScript and Convex.
• Design APIs and data models that power production applications.
• Deploy and operate services on Linux with strong uptime and reliability.
• Work with reverse proxies, networking, and high-availability setups.
• Support large iOS applications and integrate Core ML features in Swift.
• Use LLM tools to accelerate development while maintaining quality.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering experience with TypeScript.
• Convex experience or the ability to ramp up quickly.
• Comfort working with Go and Python.
• Production infrastructure knowledge covering Linux, proxies, and networking.
• Ability to support iOS build workflows and Core ML integration.
• Ownership, speed, and teamwork in a startup environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time or reactive systems.
• Docker, CI/CD, scaling, and security best practices.
