Legal Specialist, Law Enforcement (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; hybrid attendance required at least 25% of the time

What you will do

• Manage the end-to-end response to law enforcement and government requests for user data, including subpoenas, court orders, warrants, preservation letters, and emergency disclosure requests.
• Scope, retrieve, coordinate, and produce data in partnership with counsel and internal stakeholders.
• Handle foreign and cross-border processes, including MLATs, letters rogatory, civil third-party subpoenas, and preservation demands.
• Maintain knowledge of where user data resides across product surfaces and operate internal data-retrieval tooling.
• Improve the law enforcement response process, intake queues, tracking, reporting, and supporting tools.
• Partner with Trust and Safety, Security, Privacy, Engineering, in-house counsel, and outside counsel on investigations, objections, challenges, and escalations.

Requirements

• Experience in legal operations, business or operations management, or a paralegal role in an in-house legal department or similar environment.
• Direct experience handling law enforcement or government requests for user data, including subpoenas, court orders, warrants, preservation letters, and emergency disclosure requests.
• Working knowledge of the legal framework governing access to user data, including the Stored Communications Act and cross-border processes such as MLATs.
• Strong written and verbal communication, judgment, discretion, confidentiality, prioritization, and project management skills.
• Experience owning an intake, queue, or docketing process end to end and managing escalations, deadlines, and multiple projects.
• Comfort operating and improving trackers, spreadsheets, forms, aliases, and simple automations, with a proactive approach to legal process improvement.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of experience in legal operations, business or operations management, or in-house paralegal work.
• 2+ years of experience at a high-growth technology company, particularly one working with emerging technologies.
• Experience building or scaling a law enforcement response process or legal intake function.
• Familiarity with Asana, Trello, Jira, or similar legal project management tools.
