Legal Specialist, Law Enforcement (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid policy with staff expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time

Annual salary: $170,000–$220,000 USD

What you will do

• Manage the end-to-end response to law enforcement and government requests for user data, including subpoenas, court orders, warrants, preservation letters, and emergency disclosure requests.
• Scope, retrieve, coordinate, and produce data while working with in-house and outside counsel.
• Handle foreign and cross-border processes, including MLATs and letters rogatory, and manage jurisdictional escalations.
• Run and improve law enforcement intake, queue management, tracking, reporting, and operational tooling.
• Partner with Trust and Safety, Security, Privacy, and Engineering on investigations, user accounts, and safety escalations.
• Monitor legal developments, support transparency reporting, and assist with litigation and regulatory matters.

Requirements

• Experience in legal operations, business or operations management, or a paralegal role within an in-house legal department or a similar environment.
• Direct experience handling law enforcement or government requests for user data.
• Working knowledge of the Stored Communications Act and foreign or cross-border request mechanisms such as MLATs.
• Strong written and verbal communication, judgment, discretion, confidentiality, project management, and prioritization skills.
• Experience owning an intake, queue, or docketing process and improving the tooling supporting legal processes.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or relevant experience.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of experience in legal operations, business or operations management, or in-house paralegal work.
• 2+ years at a high-growth technology company.
• Experience building or scaling a law enforcement response or legal intake process.
• Familiarity with Asana, Trello, Jira, or similar legal project management tools.
