Senior Director and Head of Health (Global Health)

Location: Hybrid; based in New York, London, or Geneva. Open to candidates located in and authorized to work in the United States, United Kingdom, or Switzerland. Travel up to 25% of the time.

Compensation: U.S. $240,000–$300,000; UK £95,000–£110,000; Geneva CHF 195,000–CHF 225,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead the global health portfolio of more than $200 million across 35 country offices.
• Direct the Health Technical Unit and a globally dispersed team of approximately 60 technical experts, sector leaders, specialists, and advocates.
• Set the strategic vision and global technical standards for primary health care, nutrition, sexual and reproductive health and rights, environmental and climate health, and immunization.
• Represent IRC with donors, governments, policymakers, peer agencies, media, and global health forums.
• Lead strategic fundraising and develop high-value bilateral, multilateral, and private-sector partnerships.
• Drive evidence-based innovation, organizational change, operational excellence, and measurable health outcomes.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, health policy, or a related field; an MD or PhD is strongly preferred.
• At least 15 years of progressively responsible senior leadership experience in global health, humanitarian health programming, or related technical fields.
• Substantial experience in humanitarian and post-crisis settings, strategic leadership, fundraising, external representation, and partnership building.
• Proven ability to lead complex global teams and navigate matrixed organizations.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, public speaking, change management, and leadership development skills.
• Excellent spoken and written English is required; French proficiency is preferred.
