2nd Shift Data Center Operations Manager

Location: Onsite in Buffalo, NY; second-shift schedule with flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays due to 24x7 facility operations.

Salary: $119,686–$159,547 per year, depending on geographic market, knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional compensation may include annual bonuses or incentives, equity awards, and an ESPP.

What you will do

• Manage data center operations engineers and maintain better than 99.999% uptime through strong housekeeping and operational discipline.
• Report operational performance to the Data Center General Manager and leadership team.
• Recommend process and equipment improvements to increase productivity, reduce costs, and meet customer requirements.
• Train employees, support performance reviews and pay reviews, and recommend staffing actions such as hiring and promotions.
• Monitor and prioritize the internal ticketing system while handling customer maintenance requests.
• Coordinate vendors and contractors, oversee hardware and cabling work, and ensure compliance with global processes and quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field; additional experience may substitute for the degree.
• 7+ years of experience as a data center operations technician.
• Experience meeting data center production and operations schedules.
• Ability to work onsite on the second shift with a flexible schedule covering nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Experience indirectly leading teams or guiding less experienced resources is preferred; previous management experience is not required.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu Linux, VMware ESX, storage systems, RAID, PXE installations, firmware updates, networking equipment, and fiber or copper cabling.
