Senior Applied Scientist (Machine Learning)

Location: New York, New York, USA; hybrid workplace

Salary: $220,000–$275,000 USD per year, plus equity and possible variable compensation

What you will do

• Design, research, and benchmark algorithms for anomaly detection, error outliers, faulty deployment analysis, and other product use cases.
• Build scalable machine-learning features and apply statistical techniques to real business problems.
• Develop, deploy, maintain, and monitor models, services, data pipelines, and infrastructure in production.
• Analyze high volumes of data flowing through Datadog systems and communicate the findings clearly.
• Collaborate with engineering and product partners to incubate, scale, and deliver user-facing features.
• Participate in journal club presentations and the team’s on-call rotation.

Requirements

• BS, MS, PhD, or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering, machine learning, or a related scientific field.
• Experience with high-scale systems and datasets, including model building and applying machine learning to business problems.
• Experience writing production data pipelines.
• Ability to explain complex ideas and algorithms to non-technical audiences.
• Strong focus on code simplicity, performance, and user-facing products.
