What you will do
- Lead the daily operation of polymer and metal analytical laboratories, including equipment readiness, documentation, safety, compliance, and workflow management.
- Coordinate laboratory priorities across business, R&D, and operational needs to deliver analytical results on time.
- Support technical staff through training, knowledge retention, and best-practice sharing.
- Lead materials characterization for development, qualification, and quality programs using physical, chemical, thermal, and microscopy techniques.
- Improve analytical methods, measurement systems, laboratory quality processes, and technical capabilities.
- Support laboratory roadmap planning, equipment investments, and technical project collaboration with engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs or masterβs degree in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent demonstrated competence.
- Typically 2β4 years of experience in chemistry practices, laboratory procedures, process improvement, people management, or a related field; an advanced degree may substitute for experience.
- Experience managing analytical laboratory operations, equipment, and workflows.
- Experience with experimental design, data analysis, technical reporting, and problem-solving investigations.
- Knowledge of materials characterization techniques such as DSC, PSD, SEM, GPC, TGA, and rheology.
- Skills in statistical data interpretation, SOP development, laboratory safety, quality systems, and technical communication.
Nice to have
- Experience with additive manufacturing technologies such as MJF or Metal Jet.
- Six Sigma certification.
