Backend Software Developer (Java/Spring Boot)

Location: Remote from Slovakia only; the remote working possibility is restricted to Slovakia due to European taxation regulations.

Salary: Negotiable base salary depending on seniority and experience, with a variable part and other financial benefits. Base salary from €2,000 gross per month.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and improve backend services with Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Build and evolve microservices, REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, and REST/TARDIS integrations for the Charisma solution.
• Translate business requirements into maintainable and scalable technical solutions.
• Optimize performance, stabilize production services, and design data models with PostgreSQL, SQL optimization, and database migrations.
• Develop unit, integration, API, performance, and load tests.
• Improve observability and delivery practices using Docker, Kubernetes, Git, CI/CD, Prometheus, Grafana, LUMINA, OpenTelemetry, and logging.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot, and the Spring Framework.
• Experience developing microservices, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, SQL, data modeling, and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, Spring Security, Spring Web, Spring Validation, Maven or Gradle, and modern architecture principles.
• Experience with JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers, API testing, and performance or load testing.
• Practical experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, observability, monitoring, and logging.
• English at minimum B2 level and availability to work remotely from Slovakia.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS.
• Knowledge of Kotlin or Reactive Programming/WebFlux.
• Knowledge of route optimization technologies.
