Senior Backend Software Developer - Java/Spring Boot (Java/Spring Boot)

Location: Remote from Slovakia only; office address in Moldavská cesta, 040 11 Košice, Slovakia.

Base salary: from €3,100 gross, with a negotiable final salary, variable component, and additional financial benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and continuously improve Java 17+ and Spring Boot backend services for the Charisma solution.
• Define and evolve scalable microservices, REST APIs, data models, integrations, and database migration strategies.
• Optimize production performance, investigate root causes, stabilize services, and improve reliability and observability.
• Design and document APIs with OpenAPI/Swagger and support REST and TARDIS integrations.
• Build automated unit, integration, API, performance, and load-testing strategies.
• Collaborate with frontend, quality, business, customer, architecture, and delivery stakeholders while mentoring engineers and conducting code reviews.

Requirements

• Extensive production experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot, the Spring Framework, microservices, and REST APIs.
• Advanced PostgreSQL, SQL, data modeling, performance tuning, and database migration skills.
• Experience with Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, Spring Security, Spring Web, Spring Validation, Maven or Gradle, and automated testing with JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers, and API testing tools.
• Practical experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, and production troubleshooting.
• Experience with DDD, Event-Driven Architecture, Clean Architecture, design patterns, technical decision-making, and REST-based integrations including TARDIS.
• English at minimum B2 level is required; remote work is restricted to Slovakia.

Nice to have

• AWS and cloud-native application design experience.
• Kotlin, Reactive Programming/WebFlux, or route optimization technology knowledge.
• Experience leading technical workshops, solution reviews, customer-facing technical discussions, and production readiness reviews.
