Senior Engineer - Financial Services (Fintech)

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark — Hybrid

Salary: Up to 64,000 DKK/month gross, varying by seniority

What you will do

• Architect and deliver a new invoicing system supporting multiple billing models and financial flows.
• Build compliance infrastructure for European expansion, including e-invoicing, fiscalization integrations, and a VAT engine.
• Improve payment processing, automated reconciliation, withdrawal reliability, and working capital management.
• Own projects end-to-end, from technical design through production delivery, and make architecture decisions for auditable, traceable financial systems.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Revenue Operations, and Product on billing and commercial models.
• Support engineering growth through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering experience building and maintaining production systems at scale; Java or Kotlin is preferred.
• Experience with financial systems such as billing, invoicing, payment processing, or related domains.
• Experience owning architecture and leading technical design across multiple teams.
• Strong ownership, structured problem-solving in ambiguous environments, and interest in financial infrastructure.
• Advanced daily use of AI tools in engineering workflows, including deliberate prompting and integrating AI into design, development, and debugging.
• Proficient spoken and written English is required for regular communication with colleagues and partners worldwide.

Nice to have

• Experience with EU financial regulations, e-invoicing standards, or fiscalization.
• Experience with payment service providers or payment infrastructure.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures such as Kafka or high-throughput data processing.
