TL;DR
Grants Manager (Humanitarian Programs): Managing pre- and post-award grants functions across the Uganda portfolio with an accent on donor compliance, reporting, proposal development, and partnership coordination. Focus on tracking budgets and project cycles, preparing compliant donor submissions, coordinating complex stakeholder reviews, and maintaining accurate grant records.

Location: Kampala Country Field Office, Uganda; based in Kampala

What you will do

  • Manage pre- and post-award grant functions, including modifications, amendments, approvals, implementation tracking, and close-out activities.
  • Coordinate with program, partnerships, finance, operations, MEAL, regional, and HQ teams on grant delivery and compliance.
  • Support proposal development, opportunity reviews, capture planning, proposal timelines, donor templates, and technical comment consolidation.
  • Coordinate, write, revise, and disseminate donor reports, including partner reports, while tracking reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain grant documentation, trackers, calendars, project cycle records, and electronic files in OTIS and Box.
  • Provide compliance training, coordinate donor and partner meetings, address compliance inquiries, and communicate award or regulatory changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism and communications, international affairs, development, international political economy, social work, or a related field.
  • 3–4 years of experience in grants management, proposal or business development, or humanitarian programming.
  • Experience with donor compliance regulations for major donors, including USG, ECHO, FCDO, and private foundations.
  • Experience in project management, budget management, report review, and report submission.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is critical.
  • Strong writing, editing, organizational, analytical, communication, and time-management skills; willingness to travel and work under pressure in an insecure environment.
