Communications Engineer (IT/OT)

hirify.global is recruiting for a communications engineering role supporting critical enterprise and operational technology infrastructure projects.

What you will do

• Deliver communications engineering work packages across design, build, testing, and commissioning.
• Develop technical design documents, low-level designs, implementation plans, and commissioning documentation.
• Integrate communications systems across IT and OT environments for secure, resilient, and reliable operation.
• Perform system testing, validation, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
• Provide technical oversight to vendors, contractors, and delivery partners while identifying and escalating technical risks.
• Support operational readiness through knowledge transfer, transition to support teams, change management, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Degree in Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Approximately 25 years of communications engineering experience, preferably in enterprise, industrial, or operational technology environments.
• Experience delivering communications infrastructure projects from design through implementation and commissioning.
• Strong understanding of engineering standards, cybersecurity principles, and systems integration.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary project teams.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence required.

Nice to have

• IT/OT networking, Layer 2/Layer 3 switching, routing, and MPLS experience.
• CWDM/DWDM optical fibre transmission, microwave radio, or private mobile radio experience.
• VoIP telephony, collaboration platforms, or voice recording systems experience.
• Experience with edge communications devices, serial data interfaces, VF circuits, communications shelters, and radio mast infrastructure.
• Experience with DC power systems, battery backup, or solar-powered communications systems.
