Staff Signal Integrity and Power Integrity Engineer (SI/PI)

Location: Foster City, California, United States; Workplace: On-site

Base salary: $259,000–$311,000 per year. Total compensation may also include Amazon RSUs, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, and a possible sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Lead SI/PI architecture and define design constraints for complex, high-density PCBs and electronic systems.
• Collaborate with hardware design, silicon vendors, PCB layout, and mechanical engineering teams on stack-ups, routing, component placement, and power delivery architectures.
• Analyze, optimize, and sign off on PCIe, multi-gigabit Ethernet, MIPI, GMSL, LPDDR, and A2B interfaces.
• Architect and perform PDN analysis covering DC IR drop, AC impedance, and transient response across multi-board systems.
• Develop routing rules, simulation methodologies, automation scripts, and department-wide sign-off processes.
• Perform root-cause analysis and lab measurements, correlate simulations with testing, and mentor SI/PI engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of industry experience in signal and power integrity analysis for complex high-speed digital designs.
• Proven experience designing, simulating, and troubleshooting PCIe, multi-gigabit Ethernet, MIPI CSI/DSI, and GMSL across product lifecycles.
• Deep expertise in LPDDR memory interface design and simulation, automotive protocols such as A2B, electromagnetics, transmission lines, crosstalk, jitter, and PDN design.
• Advanced proficiency with HFSS/SIwave, Keysight ADS, Cadence Sigrity, Siemens EDA/HyperLynx, or comparable SI/PI tools.
• Hands-on experience with VNAs, TDRs, and high-bandwidth oscilloscopes.

Nice to have

• Automotive experience, particularly ADAS or autonomous vehicle hardware development.
• Knowledge of automotive reliability standards, compliance requirements, and harsh-environment design.
• Experience with high-layer-count HDI PCBs, advanced packaging, and modern fabrication capabilities.
• Ability to influence technical strategy and communicate complex trade-offs to executive and non-SI/PI stakeholders.
