Carrier Development Representative (Logistics)

Location: Chicago, IL; onsite/hybrid

What you will do

• Track shipments from dispatch through delivery using phone and electronic tracking methods.
• Communicate freight updates to customers, carriers, and internal operations teams.
• Provide and negotiate freight rates with motor carriers while supporting profitability.
• Coordinate customer freight with available carrier equipment and schedule trucks.
• Build carrier relationships, provide ongoing support, and resolve operational issues.
• Verify freight charges, bills of lading, trailer records, and payable discrepancies before final payment.

Requirements

• Excellent communication, networking, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Results-driven approach and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to change focus based on market conditions and business needs.
• Availability for mandatory Saturday and Sunday shifts.
• Availability for 4–5 hour shifts scheduled between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
