Senior Automation & Industrialisation Director (Automation)

What you will do

• Own the Automation & Industrialisation roadmap for new products from prototype through stable serial production.
• Define production processes, line architecture, workstations, tooling, fixtures, test equipment, and semi-automated production systems.
• Develop automation concepts and specifications, select suppliers, and lead commissioning and production ramp-up.
• Partner with Engineering on DFM, DFA, and Design for Automation.
• Lead PFMEA, process validation, production readiness, cycle-time, capacity, line-balancing, yield, and labour-content optimisation.
• Standardise and replicate production systems across manufacturing sites while developing the roadmap for significantly higher volumes.

Requirements

• 15–20+ years of relevant industrial experience, ideally in aerospace, defense, advanced electronics, or mechatronics.
• Personal experience taking complex electromechanical products from prototype into high-volume or rapidly scaling serial production.
• Hands-on experience with semi-automated and automated assembly systems, PLC-controlled equipment, preferably Siemens, and industrial tooling.
• Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA, PFMEA, and lean manufacturing principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead diverse stakeholders from junior team members to senior executives.
• Willingness to work on-site in Orly, travel, and work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends when required.

Nice to have

• Experience in both a highly developed industrial organisation and a startup or scale-up environment.
• Background in defense technology, UAVs, robotics, or a similarly fast-moving hardware environment.
