Director, Quality Engineering & AI — Consumer Engineering (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States; hybrid model with in-office attendance required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Remote placement will not be considered. Local Pacific Time working hours are required, with flexibility across time zones when necessary. Relocation is offered based on the actual job level.

Salary: $210,000–$245,000 base salary, plus potential equity and annual bonus.

What you will do

• Own the Quality Engineering strategy across Consumer Engineering, including the use of AI to transform test automation.
• Lead and develop QA Engineers supporting web, mobile, originations, and decisioning systems.
• Modernize automated testing and use AI tools to improve testing depth, effectiveness, and delivery speed.
• Maintain QA as the trusted release approval function and certify readiness using risk-based testing standards.
• Develop quality gates that reduce escaped defects while accounting for rapid changes from AI coding tools.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Platform, Risk, and business leaders on testing infrastructure, CI/CD tooling, and complex change.

Requirements

• 10+ years of quality engineering or test automation experience, including 6+ years leading and developing teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience leading a quality engineering organization, developing technical talent, and managing complex programs across teams.
• Hands-on experience with AI tools, AI testing tools, and AI-enabled quality strategies, with sound judgment about AI limitations.
• Deep knowledge of web and mobile testing, APIs, Java and JavaScript automation, Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, Appium or Detox, JUnit, and Jenkins or equivalent CI/CD tools.
• Experience with MySQL, Postgres or Oracle, AWS, Kubernetes, JIRA, Git, and test management tools such as QMetry or TestRail.

Nice to have

• Experience testing regulated financial systems, including lending and banking applications.
• Experience supporting customer-facing financial applications and originations or decisioning systems.
