TL;DR
IT Systems Engineer II - Launch (Linux) (Linux/DevOps infrastructure): Maintaining and improving highly reliable Linux infrastructure for launch mission operations with an accent on enterprise Linux administration, infrastructure as code, networking, and cybersecurity. Focus on designing and deploying standardized launch environments, automating build and maintenance processes, and ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, and 24/7 operational support.

Location: Onsite at the Auckland, New Zealand facility

What you will do

  • Resolve complex escalated issues across network infrastructure, systems, and integrations.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to maintain the performance and availability of critical IT systems.
  • Drive upgrades, maintenance, continuous improvement, reliability, and security initiatives.
  • Design, deploy, and optimize infrastructure solutions with IT, engineering, and business teams.
  • Implement standardized launch-environment practices covering policy compliance, cybersecurity, automation, documentation, reporting, cost control, high availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24/7/365 Launch Mission Operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of IT experience and a bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience of 9+ years.
  • At least 2 years in a Linux- or DevOps-focused technology role.
  • Hands-on experience deploying Linux operating systems in physical or virtualized environments and administering Enterprise Linux.
  • Experience configuring, upgrading, managing, and troubleshooting Linux-based and open-source systems such as Apache, BIND, HAProxy, NGINX, Postfix, and iptables.
  • Experience with Ansible or Puppet, provisioning, infrastructure as code, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, network security, architecture design, technical standards, and troubleshooting tools.

Nice to have

  • Specialist qualifications in Linux, CCNA, AWS, Microsoft, or Azure.
  • Experience with mass device deployment, Python, Shell, Bash, IPv4, switching, routing, firewalls, or high-availability architecture.
  • Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or InfluxDB.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
