Red Team Operator, Senior

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, USA; remote work is available, with occasional work at a Booz Allen or customer facility. U.S. citizenship is required.

Salary: $86,800–$198,000 annualized USD.

What you will do

• Lead red and purple team engagements for clients, validating security controls and incident response.
• Conduct offensive testing ranging from phishing-based initial access to OT/ICS perimeter and egress testing.
• Develop and customize tooling to evade antivirus, EDR, and other protection technologies.
• Exploit and leverage access across complex Active Directory, Windows, Linux, cloud, and mixed environments.
• Design and operate red team infrastructure, including command-and-control systems, redirectors, domains, certificates, and payload delivery infrastructure.
• Lead small red teams, manage staff assignments, and present findings to technical, executive, and legal stakeholders.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Experience administering and troubleshooting Windows and Linux systems, with Linux usable as a daily base operating system.
• Programming or scripting experience with Python, Bash, C/C++, C#, Rust, Go, PowerShell, or Java.
• Experience developing or modifying exploits, shellcode, or exploit tools to evade common EDRs.
• Experience with security assessment tools such as Nessus, Metasploit, Burp Suite Pro, Cobalt Strike, or Mythic.
• High school diploma or GED.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of offensive security testing, red teaming, purple teaming, web application security, or network penetration testing.
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code or Codex to support security testing engagements.
• Experience with assembly, reverse engineering, hardware security testing, Terraform, or physical security assessments.
• Knowledge of OWASP, ATT&CK, vulnerability assessment, security operations, or threat hunting.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, or cybersecurity, or an offensive security certification.
