Head of Trading Operations, Algorithmic Trading Group (Financial Markets): Leading trading desk operations, automated trading systems, workflows, and process improvement with an accent on reliability, automation, risk coordination, and trader workflow optimization. Focus on designing operational controls, improving uptime and incident response, building dashboards and alerting, and developing resilient disaster-recovery processes.
Location: Chicago, United States
Salary: $175,000–$225,000 annual base salary, plus an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do
- Lead traders, trading schedules, on-call coverage, redundancy, business continuity, and disaster recovery for algorithmic trading operations.
- Own trading operations, automation, process improvement, and performance optimization across the desk.
- Develop operational protocols with traders, researchers, and software developers.
- Lead UX/UI initiatives that improve trading workflows, reduce errors, and increase operational efficiency.
- Maintain position management, trade capture, back-office, clearing, and exchange-related processes while coordinating with risk and compliance.
- Define operational KPIs and drive data-informed improvements through dashboards, automation, and alerting.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in financial markets, desk operations, or equivalent leadership roles in a trading environment.
- Experience managing automated trading systems, tools, strategies, orders, positions, and risk on a trading desk.
- Strong understanding of position management, trade capture, settlement, clearing, and exchange processes.
- Demonstrated experience in automation, process optimization, operational controls, incident management, and disaster recovery.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams of traders, researchers, developers, UX/UI designers, and risk/compliance specialists.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.

- Familiarity with multiple asset classes.
- Comfort with data tooling, scripting, and AI tools.
