Senior Middle Market Underwriter (Commercial Credit)

Location: Fully onsite in San Luis Obispo, California at 3380 S Higuera St, 2nd Floor.

Salary: $81,000–$140,000 per year, with possible performance-based incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Underwrite new and renewal middle-market credit requests, including working capital lines, asset-based lines of credit, commercial real estate loans, and equipment financing.
• Analyze borrower businesses, industries, financial statements, cash flow, and supporting credit information to identify repayment risks.
• Prepare concise credit recommendations, including quantitative analysis, risk ratings, loan coding, and risk mitigations.
• Monitor borrower financial performance, financial statement spreads, covenant calculations, approval conditions, and loan-document requirements.
• Collaborate with Client Solutions Managers and Relationship Managers on credit approvals, customer needs, loan structures, and customer or prospect calls.
• Review other underwriters’ and credit analysts’ work, provide quality-control feedback, and coach or train colleagues when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent work experience.
• 7–10 years of commercial underwriting, credit analysis, or relevant lending experience.
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving, credit-quality, accounting, financial-statement-spreading, and cash-flow-analysis skills.
• Advanced knowledge of credit policies, procedures, practices, and documentation.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, time-management, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work fully onsite at the posted San Luis Obispo location.
