Head of DevOps, Platform as a Service

Head of DevOps, Platform as a Service (Kubernetes, CI/CD, Private Cloud): Building and leading a Platform as a Service chapter that delivers secure self-service infrastructure, hosting, and CI/CD capabilities with an accent on private cloud operations, service catalogues, reliability, and engineering standards. Focus on scaling the DevOps and hosting team, embedding AI-assisted engineering, and solving complex platform delivery, capacity planning, security, and incident-response challenges.
Location: Bucharest, Romania; hybrid work is available after the first three months of employment.

What you will do
- Build and lead the Platform as a Service Chapter, growing it to 5–10 DevOps and hosting engineers.
- Own the private cloud infrastructure as a product, defining its technical direction and roadmap.
- Define a service catalogue for self-service provisioning of compute, storage, environments, and infrastructure.
- Deliver secure CI/CD services with pipelines, secrets management, access control, and compliance controls.
- Set and report on SLAs, capacity plans, cost transparency, reliability, incident response, and post-incident learning.
- Establish standards for infrastructure as code, peer review, automated testing, observability, and AI-assisted engineering.
Requirements
- Experience leading platform, infrastructure, or DevOps teams, including line management, hiring, and engineer development.
- Experience delivering infrastructure as a self-service product with a service catalogue, SLAs, and users outside the team.
- Strong knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, Helm, CI/CD automation, infrastructure as code, and pipeline security controls.
- Experience with Redis, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Ansible or similar configuration management, and Terraform or similar provisioning tools.
- Experience operating on-premises or private cloud infrastructure, including capacity planning and cost management.
- Ability to support legacy Linux and Windows software alongside modern microservices and embed AI-assisted engineering with measurable outcomes.
Nice to have
- Experience with platform-native observability and migrating legacy monoliths to microservices on on-premises infrastructure.
- Exposure to regulated industries where auditability and access control are part of the design.
- Openness to testing and learning new approaches while leading a team through change.
