Software Engineer — Platform (AI)

Location: Hybrid in New York City, NY or San Francisco, CA

Salary: $220,000–$300,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design and build agent infrastructure, platform services, data access layers, and event-driven pipelines.
• Implement event brokers, CDC connectors, schema registries, event routing, and dead-letter queues.
• Build data lineage, governance, RBAC, auditing, PII handling, and retention-policy infrastructure.
• Define architecture and strategy for build systems, testing frameworks, CI/CD, and continuous deployment.
• Instrument services with OpenTelemetry, define SLOs, create alerting, and participate in on-call operations.
• Improve infrastructure cost visibility through query estimation, workload right-sizing, and storage-tier optimization.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production experience building platform infrastructure, backend services, or data systems.
• Strong Python proficiency and experience designing REST APIs.
• Strong background in distributed systems and cloud platforms, preferably AWS, including S3, RDS, EKS, EventBridge, IAM, and Terraform.
• Familiarity with Prefect, Airflow, or Dagster and dbt.
• Understanding of RBAC, PII handling, audit logging, and data lineage.
• Experience leading complex engineering initiatives, influencing stakeholders, and communicating technical decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience building shared libraries or SDKs used by multiple teams.
• Experience with CDC, event buses, schema registries, and at-least-once delivery.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry, ClickHouse, Ray, or similar infrastructure.
• Experience in regulated environments such as SOC 2, FedRAMP, or HIPAA.
• Previous experience as a Tech Lead, Team Lead, or hands-on Engineering Manager.
