Sr. Weld Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; onsite support for plant manufacturing operations.

What you will do

• Develop production welding processes, station methods, process instructions, and control procedures.
• Analyze production and quality data to identify weld non-conformities and resolve manufacturing problems.
• Perform weld capability analysis and troubleshoot weld instability and equipment capability issues.
• Maintain process documentation, including FMEAs, control plans, work instructions, check sheets, and process sheets.
• Provide hands-on support for production welding equipment troubleshooting and repair in coordination with maintenance.
• Lead continuous-improvement action plans and support plant goals through cross-functional problem solving.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in welding metallurgy or welding technology with four years of practical experience, or ten years of equivalent work experience.
• Experience in the automotive industry is preferred.
• Ability to lead root-cause analysis, interpret complex data, and implement high-impact solutions.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, production, quality, and leadership teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Current Certified Welding Inspector certification, or the ability to obtain CWI certification, is preferred.
