Data Scientist (Machine Learning)

Location: Hybrid work; 2 days in the office are recommended but not enforced. Up to 90 days per year may be spent on workation, including 21 days working outside the EU.

Annual gross salary: €61,200–€100,100.

What you will do

• Build and optimize end-to-end machine learning models for search retrieval, ranking, and personalized recommendations.
• Partner with platform and software engineers to deploy models in search and recommendation engines with high-throughput and millisecond-level latency requirements.
• Design modeling approaches, features, and training pipelines through collaborative technical proposals.
• Define tracking requirements, conduct offline evaluations, and design and analyze online A/B tests.
• Translate product opportunities and business problems into machine learning objectives with Data, Engineering, and Product stakeholders.
• Share knowledge, participate in peer reviews, and support the development of other data scientists.

Requirements

• Production experience designing, training, and deploying machine learning models, ideally for search, recommendations, or large-scale personalization.
• High proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using deep learning frameworks and gradient boosting libraries.
• Understanding of information retrieval, Learning-to-Rank, semantic search, or sequence-based user preference modeling.
• Experience or strong interest in high-performance model serving and working with massive datasets in cloud-based data warehouses.
• Strong knowledge of statistics, offline evaluation metrics, and online A/B testing methodologies.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Vespa or Elasticsearch and serving frameworks such as Triton.
