TL;DR
Data Scientist (Search and Recommender ML) (Python/SQL): Building and optimizing machine learning models for search retrieval, ranking, personalization, and recommendations across Vinted’s large-scale marketplace with an accent on real-time serving, high throughput, and millisecond-level latency. Focus on designing training pipelines, evaluating models offline, analyzing online A/B tests, and translating product opportunities into measurable ML objectives.
Location: Vilnius or Kaunas, Lithuania. Hybrid work is available; two office days per week are recommended but not enforced.
Salary: €3,233–€6,233 gross per month.

What you will do
- Build and optimize end-to-end machine learning models for retrieval, ranking, personalization, and recommendations.
- Deploy models into search and recommendation engines in collaboration with platform and software engineers.
- Design modeling approaches, features, and training pipelines for large-scale systems.
- Define tracking requirements, run offline evaluations, and design and analyze online A/B tests.
- Translate product opportunities and business problems into ML objectives while aligning technical trade-offs with Data, Engineering, and Product stakeholders.
- Share knowledge and contribute to peer reviews and the development of the ML and Data Science communities.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience designing, training, and deploying machine learning models in production.
- High proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using deep learning frameworks and gradient boosting libraries.
- Understanding of information retrieval, Learning-to-Rank, semantic search, or sequence-based user preference modeling.
- Experience with high-performance model serving or familiarity with search and vector engines such as Vespa or Elasticsearch.
- Experience working with massive datasets in modern cloud-based data warehouses.
- Strong knowledge of statistics, offline evaluation metrics, and online A/B testing methodologies.
Nice to have
- Experience in search, recommendations, or large-scale personalization.
- Familiarity with serving frameworks such as Triton.
