Data Scientist (Search & Recommendations)

Location: Hybrid work from the Kaunas or Vilnius office in Lithuania; two office days per week are recommended but not enforced

Salary: €3,233–€6,233 gross per month

What you will do

• Build and optimize end-to-end machine learning models for retrieval, ranking, personalization, and recommendation systems.
• Deploy models with platform and software engineers in search and recommendation engines, targeting high throughput and millisecond-level latency.
• Design modeling approaches, features, and training pipelines through collaborative technical proposals.
• Define tracking requirements, run offline evaluations, and design and analyze online A/B tests.
• Translate product opportunities and business problems into ML objectives while aligning technical trade-offs with Data, Engineering, and Product stakeholders.
• Share knowledge, participate in peer reviews, and contribute to the ML Guild and Data Science & Analytics function.

Requirements

• Production experience designing, training, and deploying machine learning models, ideally for search, recommendations, or large-scale personalization.
• High proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using deep learning frameworks and gradient boosting libraries.
• Understanding of information retrieval, Learning-to-Rank, semantic search, or sequence-based user preference modeling.
• Experience or strong interest in high-performance model serving and working with massive datasets in cloud-based data warehouses.
• Strong knowledge of statistics, offline evaluation metrics, and online A/B testing methodologies.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Vespa or Elasticsearch and serving frameworks such as Triton.
