Location: Philadelphia, PA, United States
Salary: $95,300–$158,800 annual base pay, plus eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.

What you will do
- Design, develop, deploy, and scale machine learning, NLP, retrieval, and generative AI solutions for scientific discovery.
- Build LLM-powered applications for question answering, literature summarization, semantic search, research insight generation, and evidence-grounded experiences.
- Develop retrieval-augmented generation systems that connect AI models with trusted scientific and scholarly content.
- Create capabilities for search, ranking, recommendation, entity extraction, classification, content enrichment, and decision support.
- Design evaluation frameworks for quality, relevance, reliability, grounding, trustworthiness, and user impact.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Research, Editorial, UX, and domain experts; lead technical discovery and mentor data scientists.
Requirements
- Significant hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, NLP, information retrieval, statistics, computer science, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Advanced experience developing and deploying production machine learning, NLP, retrieval, and generative AI solutions.
- Experience with modern LLMs, prompt engineering, model evaluation, retrieval systems, and AI-powered workflows.
- Extensive Python programming experience and a record of building maintainable, production-quality software.
- Experience with RAG, semantic search, vector retrieval, embeddings, ranking, or recommendation systems.
- Experience with large-scale structured, semi-structured, and unstructured datasets and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain, or LangGraph.
